LISA HILL ~ Watercolorist
My paintings are created on top-quality watercolor paper. A piece is mounted to Claybord, trimmed and sealed with acrylic gel medium. Most are on Claybord with a built-in cradle, some are on flat Claybord and framed. None of the pieces requires glass or matting.
The effect is a minimalist, gallery display look that works well with any decor.

Claybord is hardboard, coated with a thin layer of very smooth clay and fitted with a natural wood cradle of 3/4", 1.5" or 2" depth.
It is available in many sizes and can be custom made by the Ampersand Company.
All paintings are securely wired and labeled with the title.
Below is the final mounted painting with a neatly trimmed edge.
The painting and sides of the cradle are sealed with a clear acrylic gel medium and the paper is completely protected. The surface can be gently cleaned with a damp cloth.
No frame or matting is required. Claybord is also available without the cradle and is 1/8" thick which can be framed.
